Etsal "Ed" R.J. Taber, 80 of Niles formerly of Flint, Michigan, passed away at his home, on Tuesday morning November 27, 2007, with his wife by his side. He was born on May 8, 1927 in Mt. Morris, Michigan to the late Lawrence and Beulah (Tottingham) Taber. On July 4, 1947 Ed married the love of his life Virginia Jock at a ceremony in Flint, Michigan. Ed served his country proudly as Army Infantry during World War II. He retired on August 1, 1977 from General Motors after 31 years of service. Ed enjoyed camping and traveling in his motor home. He had a passion for the outdoors and shared that with many children through Pathfinders Club with the Seventh-day Adventist Church. He took great pride in being a craftsman including building his own home and cherished his eagle collection. Ed valued education and was proud of his children's accomplishments. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed making others laugh. He was a loving husband and devoted father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters. Ed is survived by his wife of sixty years Virginia Taber of Niles, three sons; Dr. Bruce (Maureen) Taber of Redlands, California, Gary (Vivian) Taber of Corona, California, Loren (Linda) Taber of Mt. Vernon, Ohio, two daughters Diane Taber of Niles and Denise (Terry) Rose of Clarksville, Ohio, ten grandchildren, one great-grandchild, two brothers Pete Taber of Illinois and Orten Taber of Indiana and two sisters Dorothy Weiland of Arkansas and Delores Fitch of Mt. Morris, Michigan. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 9, 2007 at 1 O'Clock in the afternoon at First Flint Seventh-day Adventist Church, 4285 Beecher Road; Flint, Michigan and an interment will follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery.
