Obituary of Bert Corwin

Bert Eugene Corwin, 90, passed away at West Woods of Niles, formerly of M-51 on December 3, 2007. His life began on December 20, 1916 in Carroll, Iowa to Earl and Mabel Corwin. Bert's sisters Jeanette Anderson, Amanda Smith and a brother Walter Corwin preceded him in death. Bert was united in marriage to Jessie Mabel Clark on January 9, 1936. They were married 71 years. Bert proudly served in the Civilian Conservation Corp. (CCC) and enjoyed driving school bus for the Electric Light School on Pucker Street. Bert owned his own radiator business and bait shop that he and Jessie worked together. Bert could fix anything. They raised a son and a daughter. He is also preceded in death by his loving daughter, Joyce (Oscar) Bradbury in October of 2006. Many years were enjoyed by family and friends at their cabin in Manistee, Michigan. They traveled the United States extensively. Bert and Jessie retired in the winter to Florida for 40 years. There he played the guitar, harmonica, and sang for the local residents. He also enjoyed playing horseshoes and pool. Family and music were his passions. He is survived by his wife Jessie and a son Thomas (Karen) Corwin of Mishawaka, grandchildren; Kristin Bowlin of Elkhart, Susan Corwin of Mishawaka, Renee (Michael) Manry of Niles and Kimberly (Daniel) Fox of Niles, great-grandchildren Mitchell Gring of Elkhart, Dustin (Heather) Manry of Niles, Jessica Manry of Niles and Dustin Fox of Niles. Bert always told Jessie he met her at a carnival and he has been on a merry-go-round ever since. We will all miss our Papa's loving smile. In accordance with Bert's wishes there will be no services.
