Melvin E. Hiter, 80, of M-140 Niles, passed away on Sunday December 9, 2007 at Lakeland Hospital following a brief illness.
Melvin was born on August 11, 1927 in Manila, Arkansas to the late Henry and Eva (Kinison) Hiter.
On December 30, 1950 Melvin married Ann Ledford at a ceremony in Waynesville, North Carolina.
Melvin was a retired factory worker for Kawner. He also was employed for many years at Shelton Food Mart and enjoyed being a farmer. He was a wonderful musician. In his spare time he liked to go fishing and ride and train his horses. He mostly loved being with his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a son Phillip Hiter.
He is survived by his wife Ann Hiter of Niles; four sons Charles, James, and Danny Hiter of Niles and Larry Hiter of Stevensville, three grandchildren; Jason Hiter of Niles, Scotty (Lavon) Hiter of Virginia and Jessica (Larry) Huff of Virginia, three great-grandchildren, two sisters Maxine Junior and Mildred Bass.
