Obituary of Ronald Gulliver

Ronald Gulliver, 82, of Niles, passed away at Riveridge Manor in Niles on Saturday, May 13, 2017. Ron was born on September 15, 1934 to the late Robert and Ella (Lambrecht) Gulliver in St. Joseph, Michigan. Ron graduated from Niles High School in 1952 and on June 15, 1956 he wed Carol Ann Walters. Ron was employed at Tyler Refrigeration for over 30 years. In addition, he worked for Industrial Coil before retiring and taking a part time position as a handyman for Berrien Springs Public Library. In 1960 he and Carol moved to Berrien Springs where they built a house, raised three children, and remained for over 40 years. He was a life-long Lutheran, baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Joseph, confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Niles, and attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Berrien Springs and St. Paul's as an adult. He faithfully served many roles in the church including elder, school board, facility trustee, deacon, and finance. Ron was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife, Carol Gulliver; children, Brian (Stacy) Gulliver of Niles, Denise (Steve) Cook of St. Joseph, and Jeanine (Larry) Larson of Niles; grandchildren, Lisa (Ken) Constant, Kelly (Greg Garrison) Gulliver, and Tyler Cook; siblings, Robert (Frieda) Gulliver of Rockford, Michigan, Duane (Suann) Gulliver of Kingsley, Michigan, and Diana Modigell of Oviedo, Florida; and many extended family and friends. A time of visitation will take place on Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at Brown Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Services will be on Wednesday, May 17th at St. Paul Lutheran Church located at 1340 Sycamore Street in Niles at 1:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made in Ron's name to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or Southern Care Hospice.
